Good to know
What does open-pollinated mean?
The flowers were pollinated naturally by bees and the breeze in our garden, not by hand in a controlled cross. You can save seed from what you grow and sow it again next year.
Will my plants look like the parent flower?
Often, but not always. Open-pollinated flowers can cross with their neighbors, so you may see some variation in color or form. Dahlia seed never comes true: every seedling is a brand-new variety, which is the fun of it.
Can I order seeds and tubers together?
Yes. Your cart holds both. If your order includes tubers and you choose shipping, the seeds travel with the tubers in spring. Order seeds on their own if you'd like them sooner.
How should I store seed until I sow it?
Keep packets somewhere cool, dark and dry, like a drawer or a jar in the fridge. Avoid heat and humidity, which shorten how long seed stays viable.
Do I need an account?
Not to join the list. When you order, you'll sign in with just your email, no password. Your account shows every order with Knollwood in one place.
